Discussion on Political revolution
On November 16, 2017, CENAA organized its first discussion on "Political revolution" within the project "The Future of Revolutions in Central and Eastern Europe" supported by International Visegrad Fund (IVF). Discussion took place in the Library of Václav Havel in Prague.
Discussion main points:
- The crisis of democracy is mutual, we cannot distinguish between mature West and immature post-communist democracies. We are different, but we all belong to common western block (Žantovský)
- We need to observe those differences so that we can come to common solutions to help us tackle the crisis of democracies (Pehe)
- We have certain assurances from the West (military and economic) but we do not agree on values. The positive image many have of Russia is not inherently connotated with panslavism or the will to be occupied. It is not that those want antipode to liberalism, there are indeed existing our European values, but it is not the ones we are being offered right now by the West (Benda)
- In US everything goes and nothing matters. In Czechia nothing goes and everything matters (Pehe)
